AMFEST*Fall. 15th American Film Festival

AMFEST*Fall offers an exciting film journey through the legendary country: New York, Texas, Vermont, Utah, Massachusetts... In the Sound of Metal the hero of Riz Ahmed is faced with a serious illness: he loses his hearing. This year has become for Ahmed Riz the year of music and screen struggle for health: in the brisk hip-hop drama Mogul Mowgli he plays a rapper with an autoimmune disease.

The heroes of One of These Days are ready to participate in a torture competition - because they have no other way to the American dream. But American cinema never gives in to despair; yes for tragedy,  no for despondency. And even the story of farewell Blackbird, shot by the British Roger Michell, is an absolutely life-affirming movie. And what kind of actors are there! Amfest is a parade of stars, from Vanessa Kirby and Elisabeth Moss to Julianne Moore and Susan Sarandon.

Amfest’s program includes the Russian premiere of the drama Ammonite with Kate Winslet and Saoirse Ronan. Briton Francis Lee’s film is a co-production of the USA, Australia and the UK.

A very special chapter of the festival is the outstanding films by women directors: The World to Come by Mona Fastwold, Radioactive by Marjane Satrapi, Shirley by Josephine Decker and The Glorias by Julie Taymore.

And, of course, AMFEST*Fall is a meeting place for classics and beginners: the enchanting escapist film by the acclaimed master Alexander Rockwell Sweet Thing is side by side with Edson Oda's unforgettable debut Nine Days.

All films are shown in their original language with Russian subtitles.
