The revival of the rarely performed opera "Ermione" became the most anticipated novelty of the 2024 Rossini Festival in Pesaro, successfully brought to life by director Johannes Erath. The plot from the ancient Greek epic of the Trojan War unfolds among neon sets, while the characters' costumes in punk and neo-romantic styles are reminiscent of 80s pop videos.

The performers, as well as the Italian Radio Orchestra conducted by Michele Mariotti, are flawless: the narcissistic Pyrrhus (Enea Scala), the rejected beloved Ermione (Anastasia Bartoli), and the elegant, musically intelligent Orestes (Juan Diego Flórez) are in the grip of passion, they make and break promises, manipulate and intimidate each other. True passion and life as it is!
