Shadows Behind The Frame

Lyudmila Kusakova was one of the first female production designers at Mosfilm. From the chaos of objects found in city dumps, she created magical film sets that became treasures of our cinema. She was supported in this by her husband and mentor, Mikhail Kartashov. He helped Lyudmila see beauty in the ordinary and stay ahead of her time with her ideas. However, their different approaches to life inevitably affected their union.
