The Rossini Opera Festival’s production of Ermione successfully revives a rarely performed work, directed by Johannes Erath at the Vitifrigo Arena.

The RAI Orchestra, led by Michele Mariotti, delivered a flawless performance, bringing the score to life. Anastasia Bartoli’s portrayal of Ermione was praised for her powerful voice, while Juan Diego Flórez excelled as Oreste, delivering tender and magical duets with Bartoli. Enea Scala as Pirro impressed with his dynamic tenor. Overall, the revival thrilled the audience and showcased the festival’s expertise in Rossini’s music.

“Johannes Erath’s sharp staging provides a feast for the eyes but also trusts the experimental music — chromatic flashes, interrupted melodies and declamatory style — to drive the drama” (Financial Times)
