This production is the first work by Lev Dodin's Young Studio on the stage of the Maly Drama Theatre – Theatre of Europe. It was staged by the master with young actors and, partly thanks to this, has turned out especially sincere, clear, and pure in its expression of feelings. Love—real, alive, and youthful—has battled evil in every era. And whatever the physical outcome of this battle may be, love always emerges victorious. So, despite the gloom and darkness of the surrounding world, this performance is, above all, about happiness. About the happiness of loving and being loved, about the happiness of youth, about the happiness of performing in a production by a great director and stepping onto the renowned stage of the MDT. It is about a happiness worth fighting for, to the death—but it is worth it!
"R.A. Fund" (a foundation for the development and support of socio-cultural projects) is the general partner of the Young Studio and the production "Romeo & Juliet in darkness" at the MDT - Theatre of Europe.
