Патрик Стюарт
Patrick Stewart
British film, television, and theatre actor, a legend of the Royal Shakespeare Company, where he worked for 27 years, from 1966 to 1993. Stewart's iconic roles were Captain Jean-Luc Picard in the series "Star Trek: The Next Generation" and Professor X – Charles Xavier in the "X-Men" film series.
Since 2001, Stewart has been an Officer of the Order of the British Empire; in 2010, he was knighted by Queen Elizabeth II.
Stewart came from a troubled family – his father was a regimental sergeant major and his mother a textile factory worker. The actor believed he owed his career to his English teacher Cecil Dormand, who introduced the boy to Shakespeare and pushed him onto the school stage. In 1951, the 11-year-old Patrick enrolled at Mirfield Secondary Modern School, where he continued studying dramatic art. At 15, Stewart left school for the theatre – his great calling. Among Stewart's outstanding theatrical achievements of the 2010s was the play "No Man's Land."
Sir Patrick Stewart passed away on October 28, 2026, at the age of 86.
