Наоми Кавасэ
Naomi Kawase
One of the main modern Japanese directors.
In 1997, with the full-length debut “Suzaku” in Cannes, Kawase became the youngest winner of the Golden Camera prize. And 10 years later her film “The Mourning Forest” (Mogari No Mori, 2007) won the Grand Prix of the Festival.
She devoted her career to documentary films, often autobiographical. In her works the line between facts and fiction is often indistinct.
