Jia Zhangke
Was born in 1970, Fenyang, Shanxi, China.
Is generally regarded as a leading figure of the Sixth Generation movement of Chinese cinema, a group that also includes such figures as Wang Xiaoshuai, Lou Ye, Wang Quan'an and Zhang Yuan.
Winner and nominee of the Cannes Festival awards for the films A Touch of Sin, Mountains May Depart (Shan he gu ren), 24 City (Er shi si cheng ji). Winner of the Venice Film Festival's top award Golden Lion for Still Life (Sanxia Haoren) in 2006. Was a jury president at the 68th Venice Festival’s program Horizons.
