Эльшан Мамедов

In 1989, he graduated from the theatre studies faculty of GITIS. In 1992, he completed his postgraduate studies at the Institute of Art Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences and, in parallel, at the Diplomatic Academy under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, where he studied Czech (his Candidate's dissertation was devoted to the Czech theatrical avant-garde of the 1960s). In 1994–1996, he completed professional development courses at the Romance Languages Department of the Moscow State Linguistic University named after M. Torez, mastering French. He is the author of Russian translations of several dozen French plays.

In 1993, he founded the production company "Independent Theatre Project" (since 2019 – the "Atelier" theatre).

Until 2000, he combined work on theatre projects with managing production and advertising structures of the Mosfilm film concern and the MediaMost holding.

In 2005, he created one of Russia's largest authors' agencies – "NTP. The Independent Theatre Project agency".

From 2020 to 2023, he headed the Department of Producing and Management of Performing Arts at GITIS (RATI).

He is an expert for the performing arts award "Art-Platform".
