Dreaming Big: Wilson, Butusov, Yukhananov

Great directors who defined the vectors of modern theatre – Robert Wilson, Yuri Butusov, Boris Yukhananov – passed away this summer. We dedicate three October weekends to their memory to remember or discover their ideas about art, discuss their influence on aesthetics and contexts, and watch recordings of their plays and films.

Wilson's theatre is a fabulous post-dramatic dream beyond everyday logic. Butusov's productions are an expressive and very personal dialogue with world drama. Yukhananov's multi-day projects absorb all sorts of connotations and allusions, cleansing themselves of the familiar. Thinking about each of these directors, one can think of an entire movement: visual theatre, dramatic, and new-processual.
