XXII New British Film Festival

The Festival is held within bilateral collaboration, by the Cultural and Education Section of the British Embassy in Moscow and by the CoolConnections Art Association

New British cinema is still in great shape. It knows how to tell about the events of bygone days with dignity, but without stiffness, so that you will not get bored.

The opening film is a retro comedy "The Duke": robbery, fight for justice, and a grand duet of comedian Jim Broadbent and diva Helen Mirren. And everything in "The Duke" is pure truth. Unlike in the dizzying fantasy "The Show" where the past is the material for the night fairy tale. "The Man in the Hat" is a hilarious road movie depicting sweet France as a country of typical British eccentrics. A strong drama "After Love" is both intimate and social. "Sweetheart" is a sarcastic and touching comedy, just like its teenage heroine. "Dating Amber" is also a comedy and also with transformations, but here the characters themselves are forced to pretend not at all who they really are. And the Wonder Champion of the fest is a selection of animated short films. Watch and get surprised!
