Graduated from Saint Petersburg State University, сhief research scientist, Head of the Department of the Modern History of Russia of the St. Petersburg Institute of History (Russian Academy of Sciences), professor at the European University at St. Petersburg. The winner of the Antsiferov Award. A recognized authority in the field of military history of Russia of XVIII- the beginning of the XX centuries. Research interests: military history, history of technologies, history of everyday life, historical memory.
